Android Developer (Monetization)
About the job
Our mission at Chordify is to make it as easy as possible for musicians of all skill levels to learn to play their favorite music.
As an Android Developer in our Monetization team, you will help improve the experience for Android users who want to start, enjoy, and continue their Premium journey. You’ll work on conversion-related features, payment flows, subscription experiences, and improvements that have a direct impact on Chordify’s core business model.
This role is a great fit for someone with solid Android experience who likes taking ownership, enjoys working close to product impact, and is curious about what happens after a feature goes live. You won’t just build and ship features: you’ll also look at the results, learn from A/B tests, and proactively come up with ideas that help our users and our business move forward.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys building high-quality Android features, but also likes thinking about the bigger picture: how do users move through our Premium journey, where do they experience friction, and what can we improve to help both our users and our business? You don’t have to be a product owner, but it helps if you enjoy thinking along about what should happen next.
Want to have a look at the current app yourself? You can find it here on the Play Store.
You'll thrive here if you:
Have a minimum of 5 years of experience developing Android apps
Have strong Kotlin skills
Have experience with the full Android release cycle, including testing, CI/CD, and Google Play Store rollouts
Have worked on an existing app or larger codebase before
Have the intrinsic drive to get things released and into production
Take ownership of your work and don’t need others to manage every step for you
Communicate clearly and know when to involve others
Are comfortable influencing others and bringing ideas forward
Are comfortable holding yourself and others accountable
Are curious about data, results, and the impact of the features you build
Understand when to use AI in your work, and when not to
Are preferably located in the Netherlands
Nice-to-haves:
Experience with payment-related development, such as Adyen or Google Play Billing
Experience with conversion, subscription, or cancellation flows
Experience working with A/B tests
Experience collaborating closely with design, marketing, or product teams
Experience in a commercial product environment, such as subscription-based apps, marketplaces, e-commerce, SaaS, or consumer apps
Why join us?
Are a bunch of friendly, open, always caring people, from a variety of cultural and professional backgrounds
Are an autonomous workforce, with our own flavor of the Holacracy method
Use Agile principles in most of our day-to-day work
Want everybody to be able to have real impact without micromanagement
Love music!
Our work philosophy is simple: We believe in an autonomous workforce where everybody takes care of themselves and their work. We call it Chortonomy, where everyone does what they know best, and with all our skills combined we make Chordify. Please read our blog about the heart and soul of Chordify if you want to know more about what makes us tick.
You will
Build and improve Android features for musicians all over the world
Take part in our Scrum rhythm, including planning, refinement, and team discussions
Implement and maintain features that help Android users start, manage, and continue their Premium subscription
Work on payment flows, upsell experiences, cancellation experiences, and other subscription-related improvements
Collaborate closely with designers, the Monetization circle, the Android circle, and the MarCom circle
Use data and A/B test results to understand the impact of your work
Look at the Android experience through a commercial lens: what helps users understand Premium, what creates friction, and what helps them continue their journey?
Proactively suggest new ideas that fit Monetization’s purpose
Help maintain and improve the Android codebase from both a Monetization and Android circle perspective
Help turn ideas into released improvements, not just finished tickets
Support others when they need your technical or product perspective
In your first months, we’ll help you get familiar with our way of working, our product, and how Chordify is organized. You’ll start with a well-scoped multi-sprint project, so you can learn by doing while getting to know the team, the codebase, and our subscription flows.
Over time, you’ll grow into someone who can take ownership of Monetization projects on Android, come up with project proposals, support others proactively, and help the team make better decisions based on both product goals and technical insight. For example, this could mean spotting friction in a Premium flow, proposing an A/B test, improving a payment or cancellation experience, or helping the team decide what is worth building next.

You don’t need to tick every box to apply. We care more about your curiosity, motivation, and willingness to learn than about a perfect match on paper.
If this role sounds exciting, and you feel you could grow into it, we’d love to hear from you. We especially encourage you to apply if you bring a different perspective, background, or path into tech.
